Job summary

Boston Conservatory at Berklee (BCB) seeks a collaborative Lighting Supervisor to lead lighting operations for Mainstage productions and guide student crews within a dynamic, student-centered environment.

You will oversee hangs, focuses, strikes, and show calls year-round, mentoring staff while aligning artistic visions with practical production execution. Bachelor's degree in lighting design and 5+ years' experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in lighting design (or equivalent) and at least 5 years of professional experience as a master electrician or lighting designer.
• 2+ years of supervisory experience with mentorship skills.
• Proficiency in Vectorworks, Lightwright, EOS technology (ETC ION), stage rigging, and electronics.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work on ladders/catwalks up to 24 feet, including nights and weekends.
• Preferred: higher education experience, advanced rigging skills, projection systems familiarity, or a Master’s degree.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and execute all lighting operations across performance spaces, serving as Master Electrician for Mainstage productions.
• Supervise, mentor, and train staff and student crews in safety, programming, and operations.
• Collaborate with guest designers, directors, deans, and faculty to implement artistic visions on schedule and within budget.
• Manage equipment inventory, maintenance, purchasing, and capital planning for lighting systems.
• Ensure workplace safety across spaces following relevant codes.
• Serve as Manager on Duty on a rotational basis during performances and load-ins.
