Job description

Lighting Sales – Contractor/Distributor

Location: Austin, TX (open to San Antonio candidates) – Hybrid

Our client is an established force in the commercial lighting industry, providing customized lighting solutions to diverse partners such as contractors, architects, design professionals, and distribution networks. Widely respected for high standards and enduring customer relationships, the organization delivers expert guidance and dependable support for commercial construction and design lighting initiatives.

This role works alongside clients from concept through completion on commercial initiatives, covering early planning conversations, technical documentation, cost estimates, and continued assistance following implementation. You’ll have the flexibility to tailor your approach based on customer type and project requirements. Whether working directly with a contractor managing timelines or helping a designer choose the right specification, your success will come from building trust, identifying needs, and providing responsive, expert‑level support.

You won’t be expected to cover all areas of the sales process all the time, but your ability to navigate across customer types and sales stages will allow you to own your accounts and drive long‑term value.

This Role Offers:
  • Competitive base salary with strong commission potential.
  • Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Opportunity for advancement as the sales organization continues to scale.
  • Ongoing learning opportunities designed to expand your expertise in products and market dynamics
Focus:
  • Develop and grow long‑term accounts by calling on Electrical and General Contractors, Interior Architects, Designers, and assigned Distributors, delivering expert service and strategic relationship management.
  • Identify new opportunities through proactive outreach and relationship management.
  • Introduce and explain lighting offerings through individual meetings, product walk‑throughs, or formal presentations as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the sales process by preparing pricing proposals, managing documentation packages, entering orders, and coordinating project logistics.
  • Support clients in outlining project specifications and identifying products that satisfy both functional demands and design intent.
  • Manage day‑to‑day customer communication and ensure a seamless follow‑through on sales commitments.
  • Keep pace with evolving industry advancements, product innovations, and compliance standards through ongoing development and peer engagement.
Skill Set:
  • 3+ years of experience in sales within the commercial lighting industry.
  • Track record of effectively collaborating with various purchasing authorities and project influencers in commercial settings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities and timelines effectively.
  • Working knowledge of pricing platforms, project records management, and customer relationship management software.
  • Exposure to AutoCAD, Revit, AGi32, or similar tools is helpful but not required.
  • Industry certification such as LC, or a degree in a related discipline, viewed favorably.
