Job summary

Indiana University in Bloomington seeks a Lighting Designer for the Jacobs School of Music. You will develop and implement lighting designs for all events, supervise guest artists, and coordinate with the Head Electrician on logistics, budgets, and inventories.

You will lead programming for lighting consoles, prepare drafts and archival material, and work closely with production leadership to ensure artistic vision is realized across opera, ballet, concert, and non-operatic performances.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field
• Master's degree in fine arts (preferred)
• 2 years in related field (required)
• Experience in Lighting Design and implementation in the professional and/or academic arenas (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Develops lighting designs for the center and facilitates designs of guest artists.
• Prepares logistics, conducts lighting hangs and focus sessions.
• Acts as lead console programmer and liaison to guest designers.
• Oversees lighting supervision for opera, ballet, concerts, and other performances.
• Advises on equipment needs and implementation.
• Maintains drafting, paperwork, and archival information for productions.
