Lighting Designer - NYC, NY (Hybrid Work Environment)

About the Role

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Lighting Designer to support the design, development, and implementation of lighting solutions for architectural, laboratory, healthcare, commercial, and hospitality projects. This role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career designers looking to gain hands-on experience and grow under the guidance of senior designers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Asist into day-to-day design and technical support on a variety of projects.
  • Assist in developing lighting concepts and design layouts based on project requirements.
  • Support senior designers with research, preparation of graphic presentation materials and mock-ups.
  • Prepare documentation including lighting fixtures, lamps, controls selections, lighting plans, layouts, details, lighting fixture specifications, schedules, etc.
  • Verify designs meet applicable codes, standards, and client expectations.
  • Participating in project meetings and site visits, on-site mockups as needed.
  • Perform field visits during the construction stage to evaluate the work, direct the aiming of lights and the programming of lighting control systems.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, Architecture, Interior Design, Product Design, Theatrical Lighting Design, or master’s degree in Lighting Design.
  • Knowledge of lighting principles, terminology (intensity, distribution, color rendition, etc), lighting controls systems, industry standards and calculations including AGI.
  • Familiarity with design software: Revit, ACAD or similar.
  • Strong design sensibility, attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, and ability to prioritize competing demands.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment and take direction.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
