Job Summary

This is a craft labor position that is expected to safely operate a variety of heavy equipment including, but not limited, to the following: backhoes, excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, haul trucks, dump trucks, water trucks, and post drivers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safe operation of specific equipment such as forklift, lull, skid steer used to unload delivery vehicles or at a warehouse
  • Safely operate post-driver machinery for driving posts in solar arrays
  • Move hand and foot levers of hoisting equipment to position post leads, hoist posts into leads, and position hammers over posts
  • Move levers and turn valves to activate power hammers or raise and lower drop hammers that drive posts to required depths
  • Drive posts to support structures using heavy equipment with a post driver head
  • Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment
  • Lubricate, clean, and maintain equipment
  • Follow safety regulations
  • Operate machines such as bulldozers, trench excavators, road graders, or backhoes
  • Align machines and ground equipment following site plans and hand signals
  • Operate loaders for various tasks including cleanup and material handling
  • Keep records of equipment usage and issues
  • Perform earth-moving and grading tasks
  • Read and follow site plans for drainage and build plans
  • Complete safety and pre-operational checklists
  • Operate skid steer, loader/backhoe, bulldozer, or excavator for loading, positioning, and leveling materials
  • Receive and organize materials, inventory parts, and manage shipping and recycling of defective materials
Minimum Job Requirements
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications, safety, and quality standards
  • Demonstrated ability and relevant experience: 2 years (Level I), 3 years (Level II), 4 years (Level III)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly
  • Ability to stand, walk, handle, lift, reach, push, pull, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, see, and hear regularly
  • Work outdoors with exposure to extreme weather and noise
  • Willingness to travel extensively across locations
  • Endurance to perform up to 12 hours shifts
  • Always wear PPE and respirators as required
