Job summary

Knife River is seeking an experienced Light Duty Vehicle Mechanic for our Missoula division. The role requires performing maintenance on light duty vehicles, safely operating a range of tools, and diagnosing repairs.

Flexibility for nights/weekends and the ability to work independently or in a team are essential. We offer a competitive wage ($25–$35 DOE) and a robust benefits package including 401K, Medical, Dental & Vision, plus a tool allowance.

Qualifications

• Valid driving record.
• Experience with light duty vehicle repair.
• Experience with Ford vehicle repair (preferred).
• Have your own tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance on light duty vehicle repairs.
• Safely operate equipment, from standard to specialty tools, torches, welders, hoists, forklifts, and other heavy equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment maintenance problems and diagnose parts to determine repair method.
• Read, interpret, analyze and apply information from technical manuals and schematics.
• Anticipate necessary parts and supplies for order.
• Safety-minded, complete shop forms, keep areas tidy and compliant.
• Communicate effectively with others; work independently or in a team.
• Operate company vehicle to perform field service repairs.

Knife River is looking for an experienced Light Duty Vehicle Mechanic to work for our Missoula division. This position will require you to be able to work both independently and as a team player. Working in extreme weather conditions should be expected.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform significant maintenance on all types of light duty vehicle repairs.
• Safely operate equipment, from standard to specialty tools, torches, welders, hoists, forklifts, and other heavy equipment on a daily basis.
• Troubleshoot equipment maintenance problems, diagnose parts and components to determine the method and extent of repair necessary.
• Read, interpret, analyze and apply information from technical manuals and schematics.
• Anticipate necessary parts and supplies for order.
• Safety‑minded, accurately complete shop forms, keep work areas tidy, and maintain regulatory compliance.
• Communicate effectively; there will be frequent contact, communication, and courtesy with others within and outside the company. You must be self‑motivated and able to work independently or in a team setting.
• Willingness to handle multiple projects while meeting deadlines and paying attention to detail.
• Operate company vehicle to perform field service repairs.
• Responsible for providing your own basic hand tools, pneumatics, and some specialty tools.
• Shift may include working nights, evenings, and weekends.
• Flexible with performing other duties assigned by the shop manager.
