POSITION TITLE

Light Cleaner/Stationary Engineer Backfill

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Light Cleaner/Fireman (Back-fill) is directly supervised by the Plant Operations, District Supervisors and is responsible for all aspects of Light Cleaner and/or Heavy Cleaner functions as well as Fireman A or B functions. These functions include firing boilers and maintenance of boiler room equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Operate switches to fire boilers and water heaters.
  • Perform routine inspections of boilers and water heaters and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Grease and oil equipment, coils, pumps, gate valves, mechanical equipment, and fittings as necessary.
  • Inspect and change filters in ventilation units as necessary.
  • Vacuum exhaust grills.
  • Insure water treatment units are functioning properly.
  • Inspect and grease air handling units and filters as necessary.
  • Service heating equipment.
  • Maintains outside of buildings by cutting grass, removing snow, salting walkways, and removing rubbish.
  • Sets up tables in cafeteria area.
  • Cleans cafeteria after breakfast programs by sweeping, spot mopping and removing rubbish.
  • Thoroughly cleans cafeteria area after lunch programs by removing tables, sweeping, mopping, and removing rubbish.
  • Cleans, sweeps and mops shower rooms, offices, and restrooms.
  • Uses automatic machines to clean, scrub and polish floors.
  • Unloads deliver trucks and places supplies and delivered items in proper storage areas.
  • Sweeps halls and classrooms.
  • Dusts and washes chalkboards and chalk trays.
  • Wipes off and cleans desktops.
  • Cleans bathroom fixture, toilets, mirrors etc.
  • Washes walls in bathrooms and classrooms.
  • Cleans fixtures, windows, and other areas that can be accesses with ladder over six feet in height.
  • Replaces light bulbs at heights more that six feet from floor.
  • Removes heavier loads of rubbish from classrooms and bathrooms.
  • Mops floors in bathrooms, classrooms and small hallways.
  • Spot cleans and mops stairwells as needed.
  • Thoroughly mops stairwells once per week.
  • Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment used.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned by supervisor in support of the department's or school's goals and objectives and the District's mission and Superintendent's Priority Goals.
