Job summary

Silgan Specialty Packaging is seeking a forklift operator at our Saint Joseph facility. This role involves safe operation of sit-down forklifts, material handling, and supporting shipping and production teams.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and manufacturing experience, with at least six months forklift exposure. We emphasize safety, quality, and internal growth opportunities within a reputable metal packaging company.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in a manufacturing facility.
• At least six months forklift driving experience with sit-down forklifts.
• Ability to demonstrate forklift driving experience and pass certification if not currently certified.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate Toyota-THDE3000 and 7FBCU35 electric sit-down lift-trucks.
• Maintain supply of materials to work stations and transport and put-away finished goods.
• Load/unload inbound and outbound semi-trailers and railcars with bill of lading verification.
• Prepare, maintain, and submit reports and records as required.
• Maintain good housekeeping in areas of responsibility.
• Champion safety and quality and report accidents or damage.

Starting pay is $ 2 9.01 per hour

Schedule:

8-hour shifts, Sunday night thru Thursday night

W hat you'll do:

• Safely operate Toyota-THDE3000 and 7FBCU35 electric sit-down lift-trucks .
• Maintain supply of materials to work stations and transport and put-away finished goods.
• Load/unload inbound and outbound semi-trailers and railcars while verifying accuracy via bill of lading.
• Accurately prepare, maintain , and submit reports and records as required .
• Maintain good housekeeping in areas of responsibility.
• Champion safety and quality, reporting all accidents or damage to material or equipment.
• Assist all production, shipping and receiving operations as directed by members of management.
• Work with a 'Best in class' team to continue driving and developing ways to improve operations.

We need you to have:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience in a manufacturing facility
• A minimum of six months of forklift driving work experience, operating sit-down forklifts
• If not currently certified, the ability to demonstrate forklift driving experience and pass the certification test
