Description
Sugar Bowl Resort is seeking a Lift Operations Supervisor to help lead the daily operation of our lift department, overseeing multiple Lead Lift Operators and Lift Operators across the mountain. This role carries broader responsibility for staffing, training, safety compliance, and guest service standards across all lift operations, and steps in as manager‑on‑duty when needed. The ideal candidate blends hands‑on leadership with sound judgment under pressure, and can take the work seriously while still having fun on the job.

What You’ll do:
- Oversee the daily operation of multiple lifts, coordinating Lead Lift Operators and Lift Operators across assigned areas
- Set the daily staffing plan in coordination with the Assistant Lift Operations Manager, ensuring lifts are appropriately staffed for conditions and volume
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and ongoing training of Lift Operators and Lead Lift Operators
- Monitor lift operations for compliance with safety standards and operating procedures, and address issues as they arise
- Serve as an escalation point for guest concerns, applying sound judgment and conflict‑resolution skills to resolve issues
- Step into the Lift Operator, Ticket Checker, or Lead Lift Operator role as needed to support operations
- Implement and enforce the Under 55\" program across all lift maze areas, and ensure Leads are educating guests and staff consistently
- Review Lift Logs and daily operational reports for accuracy and completeness across all lift areas
- Coordinate with Lift Maintenance and Ski Patrol on ramp conditions, equipment issues, and operational safety
- Assist in managing supply inventory and equipment needs for lift shacks across the department
- Act as manager‑on‑duty in the absence of the Assistant Lift Operations Manager, with authority to make operational decisions
- Operates a snowmobile to transport staff and supplies as needed; must complete Sugar Bowl's snowmobile safety training and certification prior to operating independently
- Provide feedback and input on staff performance to the Assistant Lift Operations Manager
- Provide excellent customer service to all guests and employees at all times
- Cross‑train and lend a hand in other departments as needed, building a broader understanding of resort operations.
- Take advantage of opportunities to learn new skills across the resort, supporting a well‑rounded, team‑first approach to the guest experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Stands, walks, and works outdoors for extended periods in all weather conditions, traveling between multiple lift areas across the mountain
- Shovels and clears snow from work areas, sometimes for extended periods in cold, wet conditions
- Frequently lifts, carries, and moves equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Skis or snowboards at an intermediate level or above as part of daily operations
- Reports to work as early as 6:00 AM on snow days, and works evenings, weekends, and holidays as part of a rotating schedule
- Sufficient visual and auditory acuity to monitor lift operations, guest safety, and communicate with staff and guests across multiple locations
