Job summary

New Balance in Boston, MA is seeking a D2 designer to translate partner requests into footwear solutions, collaborating with Product Management, Development, Materials and Color teams to create compelling brand-right products.

Based at our Brighton, MA headquarters with a hybrid schedule (in-office Tue, Wed, Thu) and occasional travel, you will manage multiple projects, communicate design intent, and stay current with fashion, sport, and technology trends.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of footwear design experience.
• Strong understanding of footwear design, construction, materials, color, and how concepts translate.
• Excellent design judgment balancing aesthetics, brand, and commercial considerations.
• Live interest in footwear, sport, fashion, culture, trends and technology.
• Highly collaborative with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Translate partner requests into thoughtful footwear solutions.
• Design color/material updates and new product concepts.
• Interpret prescriptive and ambiguous requests to establish design direction.
• Provide creative guidance balancing partner needs with brand objectives.
• Identify potential design/manufacturing challenges early and propose solutions.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Development, Materials and Color teams.
• Manage multiple projects with strong organization and milestone tracking.
• Communicate design intent and project status clearly to team and leadership.
• Maintain awareness of footwear, fashion, sport and marketplace trends.
