Job summary

New Balance in Brighton, MA is seeking a senior footwear designer to translate briefs into brand-right footwear solutions, spanning color/material updates and new product creation.

The role requires 4+ years in footwear design, deep knowledge of materials and design fundamentals, and the ability to collaborate with product management, development, and color teams. This is a hybrid position with in-office days three times per week.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of footwear design experience in lifestyle, sport, or collaborative product design.
• Strong understanding of footwear design, construction, materials, color, and how concepts translate on a product.
• Solid foundation in color theory, materials, graphic design, pattern, composition and visual hierarchy.

Responsibilities

• Translate partner requests into thoughtful footwear solutions.
• Design solutions from updates to new product creation.
• Interpret prescriptive and ambiguous briefs to establish clear design direction.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to inform design decisions.
• Identify design, material, manufacturing or brand challenges early and propose solutions.
• Communicate design intent, status, risks and opportunities to the team and leadership.
• Stay aware of footwear, fashion, sport, culture and tech trends and apply insights.
