Job summary

Manor Lake El is seeking an enthusiastic Activities Coordinator to plan, coordinate, and lead engaging programs for independent living and assisted living residents. You will develop a dynamic calendar, organize events, and work with vendors to create memorable experiences.

In addition to community outreach, you will supervise volunteers, assist with tours and leasing events, and ensure safety and inclusion while managing an approved budget. Weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

  • Must be 25 years of age or older.
  • Background screening as required by law.
  • Must have a valid driver license and clean driving record.
  • Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Professionalism, empathy, patience, and effective interpersonal skills when interacting with residents, families, visitors, and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and promote a dynamic Activities Program that encourages resident participation, socialization, and overall well-being.
  • Plan a diverse calendar of social, cultural, educational, fitness, and recreational activities that appeal to independent, active adults.
  • Prepare monthly community activity calendar and newsletter.
  • Coordinate with caterers, entertainers, decorators and others for scheduled events.
  • Organize and host on-site events, outings, and excursions; serve as chaperone when needed.
  • Foster a welcoming environment that encourages resident-led clubs, groups, and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to support community events and prospective resident experiences.
  • Participate in tours, open houses, and leasing events when needed.
  • Plan and coordinate seasonal décor and special event decorations to enhance the community environment.
  • Manage programming within an approved budget.
  • Community Leadership & Emergency Response: Essential leadership during inclement weather and emergency protocols.
  • Serve as Manager-on-Duty during assigned weekends.
  • Work weekends to support scheduled events and activities.
  • Drive residents to activities or outings and act as a chaperone.
  • Help residents off-site by lifting items and assisting with shopping needs, ensuring safety.
  • Conduct yourself professionally and contribute to a service-oriented environment.
  • Any other tasks requested by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be 25 years of age, or older

  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of all background screening requirements permitted by applicable federal, state, and local law.

  • Must have a valid driver license and clean driving record.

  • Must read, write, speak, and understand English.

  • Must demonstrate professionalism, empathy, patience, and effective interpersonal skills when interacting with residents, families, visitors, and team members.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with some college preferred.

  • Experience working with seniors is preferred.

  • Over two years, up to and including four years in recreational therapy preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, transferring, and assisting residents as required by the position.

  • Must be able to squat, reach, and stretch without distress.

  • Must be able to tolerate extended periods of walking and standing.
