Job summary

Montezuma-Cortez School District RE-1 is seeking an ESS Lifeskills Paraprofessional at Mesa Elementary in Cortez, Colorado. The role supports special education teachers and students in classrooms and other instructional settings, assisting with instruction to para students and daily activities.

Ideal candidates will have a High School Diploma, strong communication skills, and familiarity with general office tasks and word processing.

Qualifications

High School Diploma (required).
Excellent communication skills.
General office equipment.
Technical proficiency in word processing and computers.
Some knowledge of child development.
Commitment to Montezuma Cortez RE-1 mission.

Responsibilities

Collaborates with special education and regular education teachers to provide instructional services.
Assists with instruction in self-contained classrooms, one-on-one and small groups.
Maintains and monitors the daily activities of students.
Assists and escorts students in bus transfers.
Supervises students in lunchroom, field trips and playground.
Interacts with parents and staff regarding staffing activities.
Provides clerical support in various functions.
May administer medication in the absence of the teacher.
