Job summary

British Swim School of Northern Chicagol and teaches swim lessons to children and adults, starting at 3 months old; extensive training is provided to build confidence and adapt to various swimmer abilities. The role emphasizes safety on the pool deck and making a positive community impact.

The position includes serving as a Deck Ambassador and Lifeguard when not instructing, ensuring smooth lesson flow and safety at two Chicago-area locations, with a strong emphasis on survival swimming skills.

Qualifications

• Must have active Lifeguard Certification.
• Available at least 3 evenings from Monday through Thursday (4pm - 8pm) and Saturdays from 8am to noon.
• Availability and reliable transportation to work at either Northside Chicago locations.
• Completed High school diploma or equivalent.
• Enthusiastic personality.
• Must complete all required British Swim School Aquatics-specific training and testing.
• Must maintain existing certifications throughout the length of employment.

Responsibilities

• Work on-site at one of our two pool locations for two to three sessions weekly (interested in 8-12 hours weekly).
• Learn and follow British Swim School's curriculum to ensure safe and competent lessons and environment.
• Comfortable teaching all student ages, from infant through adult.
• Work in an environment where noise levels are usually moderate to high and stand in the water for up to 4 consecutive hours.
• Be prepared for shifts and support the team through regular engagement with team communications.

The Position:

A Swim Instructor at British Swim School teaches swim lessons to children and adults, starting at 3 months old using our fun, gentle and progressive methods. You will receive extensive training to build your confidence and ability to work with a variety of swimmers and abilities. Having fun and interacting with our swimmers is an important part of the role! A strong focus is placed on providing survival swim techniques living out the British Swim School mission and making a big impact on decreasing drowning. When you are not instructing, you will interact with students and families as a Deck Ambassador and Lifeguard - ensuring smooth operations of lessons and the safety of students from the pool deck.

Locations:

British Swim School of Northern Chicagoland operates from two locations; one on the Northwest side of Chicago (60630) and one in Rosemont (60018). This job is for these, and no other, British Swim School locations. Both locations require transfers from train lines to bus if commuting by public transportation.
