Job Description:

The SUNY Delhi Aquatic Center is seeking lifeguards for the Kunsela Hall Pool. The pool is open to the college and surrounding community, providing a welcoming, fun, and safe multipurpose space that serves individuals from infancy through adulthood in water safety and recreation, contributing to their quality of life.

General Lifeguard Duties:

  1. Patrol the pool to monitor patron safety and prevent injuries before they occur.
  2. Supervise swimming activities, ensuring all policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed.
  3. Administer first aid in case of injury, rescue swimmers in distress or danger of drowning, and perform CPR and/or artificial respiration if necessary.
  4. Open and close the aquatics facility as scheduled.
  5. Inspect pool facilities, equipment, and water quality, including monitoring pool chemistry and recording data.
  6. Maintain cleanliness and general upkeep of the pool, locker rooms, and First Aid room according to specific schedules.
  7. Manage basic bookkeeping tasks, including tracking attendance and payments, and checking patron IDs.
  8. Assist with event setup, including moving lane lines, tables, chairs, and pool equipment.

Head Lifeguard Duties:

  1. Assist in creating the lifeguard schedule.
  2. Serve as liaison between the Aquatics Coordinator and lifeguard staff.
  3. Accurately collect, record, and secure payments received during shifts.
  4. Perform any additional duties assigned by the Aquatics Coordinator.

Requirements:

  • Current Certified Red Cross Lifeguard Training certification or equivalent.
  • Current American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers or BLS certification or equivalent.
  • Current American Red Cross First Aid certification or equivalent.

Additional Information:

  • Work hours: Monday through Friday, 7 am - 11 am and 3 pm - 5 pm.
  • Willingness to work afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
  • Attend all lifeguard training sessions and meetings.
