Martin Luther School, as part of Gemma Services, is an approved private school that is committed to providing high-quality, individualized education to students with unique learning needs. Our mission is to instruct the mind, engage the heart, and empower the will. We use a holistic educational approach to address the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of children in kindergarten through 12th grade.

The Lifeguard provides safety and supervision for students and staff during aquatic activities as part of the Extended School Year (ESY) Program. This position ensures a safe swimming environment by monitoring pool activity, enforcing safety rules, and responding promptly to emergencies.

General Responsibilities:

  • Provide active lifeguard coverage and maintain constant watch over pool participants.
  • Monitor pool and surrounding areas to ensure safe conditions and practices.
  • Enforce all aquatic facility rules and respond to unsafe conditions or behaviors.
  • Perform water rescues, CPR, and first aid as necessary.
  • Work closely with program staff to ensure students’ needs are met during aquatic sessions.
  • Complete and maintain incident and accident reports as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the pool area and swim towels/bathing suits.
  • Attend all required ESY staff meetings and training sessions.

Education/Training:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of related lifeguarding experience preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age w/High School Diploma
  • Lifeguarding Certification
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer
  • First Aid

  • Ability to stay alert and respond quickly in emergency situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with children and school staff.
  • Ability to enforce rules in a professional and respectful manner.

Experience:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of related lifeguarding experience
