Job summary

City of Appleton seeks a dedicated Lifeguard Supervisor to oversee the East and West pool facilities during the program season. You will supervise staff, ensure safety, deliver swim program activities, and support swim lessons for children.

Requirements include current Lifeguard Training, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and AED certifications, plus ability to work with diverse age groups. Year-round employment season; pay Grade 3.

Qualifications

• Current Lifeguard Training, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid and AED certifications are required.
• Physically capable of performing program activities and swimming.
• Ability to work with varied age groups, including children.
• Ability to take direction and follow instructions.
• Shall wear Parks and Recreation staff uniform per City dress code.

Responsibilities

• Supervise facility during work hours (security, cleanliness, safety).
• Ensure safety of patrons during all swim programming.
• Coordinate and plan program-related activities and events.
• Instruct or support swim lessons (swimming, diving, water safety).
• Encourage children to participate and be a positive role model.
• Train on emergency action plans, rescue skills, CPR and AED use.
• Respond to emergencies using established protocols.
• Complete paperwork (attendance, incident reports, facility checklists).
• Supervise special events at the facility.
• Set up and take down program equipment.
