Job summary

The YMCA of Central Florida is hiring Lifeguards and Swim Instructors for the Dr. P. Phillips Family Center in Orlando. You will help keep members safe around water, provide swimming instruction, and deliver excellent customer service within a values-driven team.

We offer flexible scheduling, free or discounted YMCA membership, opportunities to earn additional certifications after hire, and immediate openings for part-time roles with career growth potential.

Qualifications

• Current Lifeguard or Swim Instructor certification required by hire date.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required by hire date.
• Oxygen Administration certification required by hire date.
• Minimum age of 16 years old.
• Previous lifeguard or swim instructor experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain constant surveillance of the pool area using scanning techniques to ensure safety and respond to incidents promptly.
• Know and review emergency procedures and respond to emergencies per YMCA policies.
• Greet members and develop positive relationships with members and staff.
• Promote pool safety and represent YMCA values in the Family Center and its programs.
• Assist in retention and engagement by informing members about aquatic programs (lap swim, lessons, swim team, group exercise).
• Ensure cleanliness of pool decks and aquatic areas and check for hazards.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
• Promote the YMCA mission and core values in all activities.
