Responsibilities:
- Responsible for preventing, identifying, and responding to accidents/incidents.
- Ensure the safety of all swimmers by enforcing pool policies, rules, and regulations.
- Administer and respond to emergencies, providing care as needed.
- Maintain active surveillance of the waterfront area.
- Perform general maintenance around the waterfront area.
- Assist Camp Coordinator/Staff with pool-related responsibilities, including camper swim assessments.
- Follow all policies and procedures to guard swimmers and patrons.
- Comply with health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate supply needs to Camp Coordinator and Assistant Camp Coordinator.
- Attend all training and in-service sessions.
- Hold Lifeguard, CPR/AED, First Aid, and Oxygen certifications.
- Demonstrate exceptional swimming skills and knowledge of fundamental strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly).
- Maintain positive relationships with campers and staff.
- Prepare and submit reports as required.
- Report all accidents, incidents, and suspected child abuse or neglect to authorities.
Qualifications:
- Attend all training and in-service sessions.
- Hold valid Lifeguard, CPR/AED, First Aid, and Oxygen certifications or be able to pass the exams.
- Exceptional swimming skills and understanding of strokes.
- Proven swimming ability.
- Ability to build positive relationships with campers and staff.
- Ability to prepare and provide reports.
- Report all accidents and suspected child abuse or neglect.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good organization and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Maintain annual training requirements.
Education / Experience:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Preferred: Six months of experience working with children or in childcare.
