A Day in the Life of:

As a member of our Summer Camp team, you will provide oversight of the pool and swimmers while on duty. You will be responsible for providing supervision and ensuring a safe environment at the camp's waterfront activities. Your people skills will come in handy and will help you to maintain fantastic professional relationships with your fellow team members and those that we serve.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Safeguards and regulates conduct of campers
  • Enforces pool policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Rescues campers and performs appropriate follow-up procedures, including the proper use of equipment in the performance of first aid.
  • Assists in the proper maintenance and sanitary up keep of the pool, and pool area.
  • Provides written reports on all accidents.
  • Maintains proper updated safety requirements.
  • Attends in-service training and instructs certain skills to staff.
  • Conducts camper and staff swimming test to assess ability to swim independently and unattended.
  • Performs work safely in accordance with departmental safety procedures.
  • Operates equipment safely and reports any unsafe work conditions or practice to supervisor.
  • May provide guidance to less experienced lifeguards during shift.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED, be 18 years of age.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of college preferred by not required.
  • Current certification in lifeguard training or equivalent.
  • Current certification in first aid and CPR.
  • Prior experience at a waterfront similar to the camp (pool and paddle boating)
  • Ability to work with children and adults with disabilities.
