Pennsauken Township will cover the cost of lifeguard certification and recertification classes for those who sign an agreement committing to work at the Pennsauken Pool for the 2025 season.
Duties include supervising swimming activities at the aquatics facility and ensuring that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed. Warning swimmers of improper activities or danger and enforcing pool regulations and water safety policies. Administering first aid in the event of injury, rescuing swimmers in distress or danger of drowning, and administering CPR and/or artificial respiration, if necessary. Evaluating conditions for safety and initiating the aquatics emergency action plan as required. Inspecting pool facilities, equipment, and water to ensure that they are safe and usable. Supervising and assisting in cleaning the pool and related facilities and equipment, assisting with chlorine residual water tests and maintaining records of water tests and accidents. Instructing or assisting classes in the fundamentals of swimming as needed.
