Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Brandywine at Jennersville YMCA in West Grove, PA seeks a lifeguard to guard aquatic facilities, enforce safety policies, and support a safe, welcoming environment for members and program participants.

Requirements include being at least 15 years old, holding Ellis & Associates lifeguard certification (or transfer), CPR/First Aid/AED, and ongoing in-service trainings. Shifts run from 4 am to 4 pm with comprehensive YMCA benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be 15 years of age or older.
• Current lifeguarding certification from Ellis & Associates or transferred Ellis & Associates lifeguard certification.
• Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, Oxygen Administration, AED, and Blood borne Pathogens.
• Complete required monthly Ellis & Associates in-service hours of training and scanning skills.
• Obtain and maintain all additional new hire certifications within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Actively scan assigned zone every 10 seconds and reach farthest point within 20 seconds.
• Perform bottom scans during rotations.
• Position self to maintain clear pool view and safety.
• Guard from elevated chair or edge of pool as required.
• Follow 5 Minute Strategy standards and rotate zones every 30 minutes.
• Never leave the pool deck unguarded.
• Be Rescue Ready at all times with equipment.
• Participate in drills and trainings.
• Close pool if unsafe and alert supervisor per policy.
• Enforce pool rules with courtesy and fairness.
• Assist with cleaning and other duties as assigned.
