Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Brandywine invites applications for a Kennett Square Lifeguard role. You’ll guard and enforce policies across all aquatic areas, ensuring swimmer safety and compliance with state and association standards.

Compensation is hourly ($15.00-$18.00) with full-time benefits. The position emphasizes vigilance, teamwork, and adherence to emergency procedures, drills, and safety rules.

Qualifications

• Must be 15 years of age or older.
• Current Ellis & Associates lifeguard certification.
• Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, Oxygen Administration, AED, and Blood borne Pathogens.
• Complete required monthly in-service hours of Ellis & Associates in-service training and scanning skills.
• Obtain and maintain all additional new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Actively scanning the assigned zone every 10 seconds and rotating zones every 30 minutes.
• Perform a profound bottom scan of zones during rotation.
• Guard from elevated chair or pool edge and maintain clear view.
• Follow the 5 Minute Strategy and never leave the pool deck unguarded.
• Be Rescue Ready at all times with equipment in position.
• Participate in drills and respond as if live situations.
