Job summary

The Lifeguard position at YMCA of Greater San Francisco ensures the safety of the pool and surrounding areas, responds to emergencies, and maintains order and cleanliness in the pool area, office, equipment room, and deck. Qualified candidates hold current ARC Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and ARC First Aid certifications, and

Qualifications

• Age 18+.
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
• Current American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer (CPRO).
• Current ARC First Aid Certification.
• 20/20 vision or corrected to 20/40.
• Ability to hear noises and distress signals in aquatic environments.
• Able to work with members, staff and volunteers.
• Available Monday–Friday 5:15am–1:15pm with at least 1 weekend day a month.

Responsibilities

• Maintain full attention on the pool and its occupants at all times.
• Enforce pool rules and regulate lap lanes while fostering inclusivity.
• Supervise Junior Lifeguards and volunteers on duty.
• Lead during emergencies and activate branch chain of command.
• Open facilities, test systems, and ensure ADA access.
