Job summary

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is hiring Lifeguards to ensure a safe swimming environment at our Aquatic facilities. Positions include Evening, Weekend and rotating holiday shifts for 16+ year-olds with required certifications. Opportunities are available as Temporary or Limited Part Time roles across multiple locations.

Selected candidates will deliver first aid, supervise activities, and provide excellent customer service while promoting water safety and community recreation.

Qualifications

• No experience required.
• Must be at least 16 years old and possess at least an eighth grade education; hold and maintain all required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Patrol and monitor swimming activities; detect hazards and safety infractions.
• Administer first aid or CPR when necessary using trained procedures.
• Contact emergency medical personnel for serious injuries.
• Rescue distressed swimmers using approved techniques and equipment.
• Instruct participants in swimming and safety information.
• Maintain records of weather, treatments and incidents.
• Test and maintain pool water chemical levels.
• Warn participants about weather, unsafe areas, or misconduct.
• Inspect equipment and facilities for safety and cleanliness.
• Assist in the safe use of equipment and participate in events.
