Position Details

Pay Range: $12.50/hr (fixed)

Part-Time Employee Benefits:

Responsibilities
  1. Maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas.
  2. Create a safe and positive atmosphere promoting safety and engagement.
  3. Support YMCA's mission of community strengthening through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
  4. Serve others by welcoming, connecting, and supporting members and participants.
Qualifications
  • Minimum age of 15.
  • Strong supervisory and organizational skills.
  • Lifeguard (including Deep Water) Certification, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid.
  • Certification for Oxygen Administration within 30 days of employment.
  • Physical and mental readiness to maintain certification standards.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups.
Essential Functions
  1. Constant surveillance of pool areas.
  2. Respond promptly to emergency situations following YMCA policies.
  3. Maintain positive relationships with members and staff.
  4. Apply safety rules and guidelines consistently.
  5. Keep accurate records as required.
  6. Perform equipment checks and chemical testing.
  7. Complete incident and accident reports as needed.
  8. Conduct oneself professionally per YMCA Code of Conduct.
  9. Maintain pool area safety, cleanliness, and equipment.
  10. Follow policies on medical, disciplinary, and child abuse prevention.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Working Environment & Physical Demands

Must perform physical tasks including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting. Work hours include daytime, evening, and weekends. Clearances required prior to hire include PA Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Certification, and FBI Fingerprinting.
