Job summary

YMCA of Centre County in State College, PA, is seeking a lifeguard who can maintain safety and supervise the pool area. The role requires a current lifeguard certification or the ability to obtain one, with minimum high school education and strong communication to enforce rules.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and vigilance for rule enforcement.
• Ability to remain calm and act quickly in emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Remain physically and mentally alert, proactively search for distressed swimmers and hazards.
• Communicate with youth and adults to enforce pool rules and schedules.
• Remain calm, respond effectively, and give clear directions in emergencies.
• Maintain pool safety by removing hazards and halting dangerous behavior.
• Assist in cleaning the facility, including vacuuming the pool and other tasks.
• Be ready to complete the prerequisite swim test as per American Red Cross requirements.
