Job description

Location: Pensacola Corps Community Center, Pensacola FL

Position Type: Regular Part-Time
(Approximately 16 hours per week, M/W/F, schedule may vary esp. during Summer)

Pay Range: $13.75 - $14.50/hour

About this opportunity:

Serves as lifeguard at a Salvation Army pool ensuring the patrons safety and health; cleans and maintains the pool water, equipment, decks, and shower rooms.

Key responsibilities:

• Monitors all patron's activities in order to guard and protect the safety of all patrons visiting The Salvation Army pool; enforces all pool rules and instructs patrons accordingly.
• Determines when patrons' behavior is dangerous or unruly and instructs patrons accordingly.
• Responds to emergencies by practicing standard lifesaving techniques including C.P.R. and first aid techniques; contacts emergency services as needed.
• Monitors patrons entering and leaving the pool area.
• Monitors weather conditions and vacates pool area when necessary.
• Maintains the cleanliness of the pool, deck, and shower rooms.
• Schedules and supervises pool events in accordance with pool policies and procedures.

What we are looking for in you:

• High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred, and
• Six months experience working as a lifeguard, or
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

Lifeguard Training Certificate

C.P.R. and First Aid Certification

Must be able to pass a Level I & Level II background check prior to employment

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to swim and conduct life-saving techniques.
• Ability to stay out in the sun and heat for extended periods of time.
• Work is performed indoors in a recreational swimming pool environment.
