Job description

Current Lifeguard Certification Willing to Work Seasonal for GE Fitness Evendale

This position is responsible for monitoring pool activity, facilitating safe and appropriate pool practices, rescuing and assisting those in need, providing instruction to participants, and maintaining a clean pool environment. Team participation and member interaction are also included.

Job Requirements:
  1. High School Education or equivalent (2 years)
  2. Age 16 with work permit
  3. American Red Cross lifeguard certification or YMCA/lifeguard equivalent
  4. First Aid, CPR, AED certifications
  5. Knowledge and demonstration of basic rescue techniques
  6. Excellent swimming skills, including ability to swim 300 meters using the 5 basic strokes
  7. Up to 1 year or one season of lifeguard experience
Job Responsibilities:
  1. Create a positive work environment and establish relationships with members, patients, physicians, and staff.
  2. Promote safety in the pool area, perform rescues/prevent accidents, and inform management of safety hazards.
  3. Communicate with management regarding issues and participate in record keeping.
  4. Assist coworkers, provide positive feedback, and mentor new employees/students.
  5. Motivate and assist members with swimming and fitness goals.
  6. Maintain cleanliness of pool areas, including scrubbing, hosing, wiping down, and debris removal.
  7. Adjust water fitness class lanes according to participant numbers.
Working Conditions:
  • Frequent: Hearing (conversation and other sounds), standing, talking, use of hands, visual acuity (far and near), walking
  • Occasional: Sitting, reaching, pulling, pushing, stooping, kneeling, lifting <50 lbs, occasionally lifting 50+ lbs
  • Rarely: Climbing, kneeling
