Job summary

Lee's Summit Parks and Recreation is hiring lifeguards for the season to ensure the safety and enjoyment of pool guests in our aquatics facility. Responsibilities include continuous patron surveillance, responding to emergencies, enforcing facility rules, and assisting with aquatics activities and maintenance.

Must be at least 15 years old with valid American Red Cross lifeguard certification and Basic first aid, CPR and AED certification before season start. Hourly pay is $15.15.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 15 years of age.
• Must possess valid American Red Cross lifeguard certification.
• Must possess valid Basic first aid, CPR and AED certification prior to the first day of the season.

Responsibilities

• Perform lifeguard duties according to established procedures and training.
• Maintain constant surveillance of patrons and act immediately in case of emergency.
• Provide emergency care and treatment until EMS arrival.
• Enforce facility rules and regulations and handle patron incidents.
• Monitor weather and water conditions to preserve safety.
• Prepare and maintain appropriate reports.
• Assist in planning, preparation, implementation and evaluation of aquatics activities.
• Assist in maintenance of aquatics facility.
• Follow LSPR guidelines, policies and procedures to maintain safety.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform the functions of a lifeguard according to established procedures and practices and in accordance with formal training and certification.
• Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of an emergency.
• Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
• Enforces facility rules and regulations; takes appropriate action in the event of patron incidents.
• Monitor weather conditions and water conditions for signs of danger or hazard; take appropriate steps to preserve safety and well being of patrons and others in area of responsibility.
• Prepares and maintains appropriate reports.
• Assist in the planning, preparation, implementation and evaluation of aquatics activities.
• Assist in maintenance of aquatics facility.
• Maintains safety by following LSPR guidelines, policies and procedures.
• Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings and mandatory in-service training sessions as scheduled.
• Ensures enforcement of rules and regulations of LSPR.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least 15 years of age;
• Must possess valid American Red Cross lifeguard certification (available through LSPR after hire);
• Must possess valid Basic first aid, CPR and AED certification prior to the first day of the season (available through LSPR after hire.)
