Position Summary

The Lifeguard is responsible for the safety of all guests in and near the pool area.

Primary Responsibilities

• Enforce all pool rules
• Prevent injuries and minimize hazards
• Provide patron surveillance
• Handle injuries, accidents, and emergencies (contact Senior Lifeguard for assistance)
• Arrive on time
• Instruct guests in swimming, water safety, and aquatic programs
• Complete cleaning duties
• Attend in-service training
• Provide courteous guest service
• Greet guests and assist with information and wayfinding
• Operate ticket sales booth and handle cash
• Know facility programs, policies, and procedures
• Maintain confidentiality
• Resolve guest concerns professionally
• Maintain cleanliness and perform walk-throughs
• Supervise and enforce rules during events
• Complete special projects and daily assignments

Minimum Qualifications

• Current certification in Deep Water Lifeguard Training (American Red Cross) and First Aid, CPR/AED for Lifeguards, or ability to complete within 30 days of hire
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work well with others
• Must be at least 16 years old

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

• Frequent walking, swimming, sitting
• Use of hands and fingers, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling
• Occasional lifting, pulling, pushing heavy items
• Specific vision abilities required
• Work outdoors in temperatures from 80-105°F
• Exposure to sunlight, humidity, and cleaning chemicals
