Job description

Join to apply for the Lifeguard - Ledge Pool role at Cleveland Metroparks.

The Lifeguard 1 monitors aquatic activities at Cleveland Metroparks Ledge Pool to prevent, recognize, and respond to emergencies. This position enforces rules and regulations to prevent injuries and enhance guest safety by minimizing hazardous situations or behaviors.

Uniforms are provided, including swimsuits, t-shirts, rain jackets, sweatshirts, and hats.

Essential Functions

1. Regular and predictable attendance is expected. Employees must be prepared to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
2. Monitor pool activities and identify safety issues.
3. Direct swimmers out of the pool in hazardous conditions.
4. Maintain cleanliness in and around the pool area.
5. Assist patrons as needed.
6. Recognize signs of danger in designated areas.
7. Perform first aid procedures.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.
9. Candidates must be certified or become certified in American Red Cross Lifeguarding (training available in May 2025).
10. Pass a waterfront lifeguard training module conducted by Cleveland Metroparks.
11. Minimum age of 16 for Lifeguard Candidates; 18 for Lifeguard Supervisors.
12. Subject to fingerprinting and background check.

Employment Dates

Mid-May through August, including holidays and weekends. Flexible schedule required.
