Coast Guard Exchange (USCGCSC) seeks a Lifeguard for the MWR Yorktown Pool in Yorktown, VA. The role involves lifeguarding outdoor pool guests, enforcing safety rules, and responding to emergencies under supervision. Availability from mid-May through Labor Day is required.
Certification as Lifeguard (ARC or equivalent) and CPR/First Aid is required; must be 16+ years old and able to communicate in English. Intermittent schedule (0–19 hours/week) with a pay of $15.00/hour.
Serves as a lifeguard for outdoor pool work under the direction of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Aquatics Program Manager or MWR supervisor. Employs safety rules for the protection of the pool guests. Responsible for life guarding guests in attendance at the assigned aquatics facility. Rescues swimmers and administers first aid as required. Attend aquatics and/or safety training as directed. Assists in maintaining pool and keeping all areas clean and free from any hazards. Provides information to swimmers regarding safety rules and procedures. Tactfully warns patrons who repeatedly disregard safety rules, and do not follow facility Standard Operating Procedures. Patrons can be asked to leave the facility for not conforming to policy and rules. Pool rules and regulations arc posted in view for all patrons using the facility to review. The pool and pavilion may at times be rented for parties and family functions and at no time will these functions exceed fifty (50) persons. Maintains accurate daily logs and records as required. Cash collected will be properly accounted for and the paperwork maintained correctly. Must be available from Mid-May through Labor Day. Perform other related duties as assigned.
