Job description

The Lifeguard at Camp Woodland Hills will ensure their presence whenever the pool is open to monitor the safety of all visitors and apply best practices for safe swimming and provide emergency care when necessary.

Willingness to work with Community of Christ and support its identity, message, mission, and beliefs. Previous lifeguard experience desired.

Employment Status

<20 hours/week

Summary of Position

Be present anytime the pool is open and oversee the safety of all pool users. Implement best practices for safe swimming and provide emergency care as needed.

Essential Functions
  • Communicate Camp Woodland Hills Pool Policy to all campers and staff.
  • Apply all rules and regulations consistently.
  • Maintain positive relations and rapport with renters, staff, and supervisors.
  • Ensure that all personal belongings are collected by campers at the end of each camp. Dispose of items left behind.
  • Maintain lifeguard certifications through the Red Cross, YMCA, or other Community of Christ approved organization.
  • Hold and maintain CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid, or equivalent, certifications.
  • Strong swimming skills and endurance.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.

Required Trainings

Registered Youth Worker/Anti-harassment Training: New employees are required to be a registered youth worker with Community of Christ or be able to register within 30 days of hire date. Anti-harassment training is also required within 30 days of hire and then required annually.
