Hourly Rate: $18.50-$20.50

Job Summary

Primary responsibility is for the safety of all guests at the aquatic facility.

General Duties
  • Act as a first responder for all medical procedures and be aware of possible health risks.
  • Enforce the rules and regulations of the aquatic facility.
  • Maintain accountability for the health and safety of all patrons.
  • Practice preventative lifeguarding to avoid accidents.
  • Assist distressed swimmers.
  • Keep proper records at the facility.
  • Maintain positive relations with the public.
  • Perform daily cleaning and upkeep of the aquatic facility.
  • Follow Town, Department, and American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR/AED training & policies.
  • Perform related work as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Be at least 15 years old.
  • Possess current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
  • Waterfront Lifeguard Certification is preferred.
  • Previous experience in aquatics programs is preferred.
  • Have reliable transportation.
Physical and Mental Effort & Work Conditions
  • Be in good physical condition.
  • Ability to lift objects over 30 pounds.
  • Ability to concentrate for extended periods.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and swim for extended periods.
  • Attend to tasks for at least 45 minutes.
  • Perform tasks requiring hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to see objects close up and far away.
  • Hear normal sounds with background noise, such as a call for help.
  • Extended exposure to the sun.
  • Exposure to blood, body tissues, or fluids.
