Responsibilities

  • Monitors swimmers and pool areas to prevent accidents and ensure safety.
  • Attends mandatory in-service training sessions as scheduled.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, including water rescues and first aid situations.
  • Administer CPR, AED and first aid as needed.
  • Act immediately and appropriately to the secure safety of participants in the event of emergency.
  • Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times and maintains a high standard of customer service.
  • Ability to enforce pool policies, and safety regulations while providing a high level of customer service to the public.
  • Arrives prepared and on time for work and consistently demonstrates service excellence.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections of pool area and equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness of pool deck and locker room areas.
  • Complete incident and accident reports accurate and promptly.
  • Resolves simple public complaints in matters related to swimming instruction and refers other complaints to the Pool Supervisor.
  • Work as a team with other lifeguards and supervisors.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures.
  • Provide friendly and professional services to those using the facilities.
  • Work both indoor and outdoor pools, adapting to varying weather conditions.
  • All other duties as assigned and appropriate.

Salary Range: $18.00 To $19.00 Hourly

General Purpose:

Under close supervision of the Director & Assistant Director of Recreation Program Supervisor, Program Coordinator of the Parks and Recreation Department Learn to Swim Program, and the Aquatics Supervisor, lifeguards are resident-focused to ensure the safety of all Guests in both indoor and outdoor aquatics facilities. Lifeguard monitor pool activities, enforces safety rules, respond to emergencies, and provide proactive monitoring of pool areas.

Minimum / Special Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Lifeguard Certification
  • Current CPR/ First Aid/AED Certifications required.
  • Outstanding aquatic skills and proficiency
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children and adults
  • Ability to remain alert, attentive, and responsible
