Job summary

WH Wheeling Hospital Inc. in Wheeling, WV seeks a dedicated Lifeguard to provide a safe aquatic environment for members and guests at our facility.

Responsibilities include greeting visitors, monitoring activities, maintaining pool safety, teaching swimming lessons when needed, and enforcing health codes. AED/CPR certification and current lifeguard credentials are required; high school diploma preferred.

Qualifications

• AED/CPR certification required.
• Current Lifeguard Certification through the American Red Cross, USLA, or ALA is required.
• High school education or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides a welcoming greeting to members and guests when they enter the aquatics area.
• Monitors guest activity to ensure a safe aquatics environment at all times.
• Assists with maintaining a clean and safe pool environment and monitors water chemistry, temperature, and surfaces.
• Performing proper cleaning and preventative maintenance of aquatics equipment, heaters, and pool surfaces.
• Provides aquatics services including teaching swimming lessons and supervising group activities.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE

• AED/CPR Certified.
• Current Lifeguard Certification through the American Red Cross, United States Lifesaving Association (USLA), or American Lifeguard Association (ALA).

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides a welcoming greeting to members and guest when they enter the aquatics area.
• Monitors guest activity within the aquatics environments to ensure a safe aquatics environment at all times.
• Assists with the maintenance of a clean and safe pool environment to ensure that it meets all required local health codes and quest needs. This may include monitoring and balancing water chemistry, monitoring and maintaining pool temperature, and monitoring and maintaining the cleanliness of the pool.
• Assists with the maintenance of a clean and safe pool environment through proper cleaning and preventative maintenance of aquatics environment including filter room equipment, heaters, and pool surfaces per facility policy and procedures.
• Provides aquatics services, including teaching swimming lessons, supervising group swim activities, and helping with other aquatics program activities.
• Demonstrates professionalism that aligns with the values, philosophies, and standards of the facility.
• Performs other facility-related duties, as needed, to ensure the satisfaction of members and guests.
