Job summary

YMCA of Greater Rochester seeks a lifeguard to ensure patron safety in and around the pool and facility. You will enforce regulations, maintain cleanliness, and assist with emergency procedures, reporting, and documentation.

Applicants must be 15+ years old and hold YMCA or Red Cross lifeguard certification with renewal within 60 days, plus CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, and First Aid certifications. Shift premium may apply for certain hours.

Qualifications

• Must hold YMCA Lifeguarding or Red Cross Lifeguarding and obtain YMCA Lifeguarding certification within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of every individual in and around the pool and facility.
• Enforce pool regulations including showers, food and drink, and conduct.
• Maintain clean and sanitary premises.
• Maintain records per NYS Health Department Sanitary Code.
• Learn and review all emergency procedures and participate in staff meetings.
• Report 15 minutes before shift in proper uniform; arrange substitutes when unable to work.
• Maintain all required YMCA lifeguard certifications.
