Job Description - Lifeguard Fitness Center Mentor PRN (250002RM)
A Brief Overview
The purpose of a lifeguard is to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies and provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) takes over.
What You Will Do- Maintain a safe environment.
- Ensure safety of staff, members, and guests in the pool area.
- Maintain a safe environment at all times, keeping the pool deck dry, clean, and clear of obstacles.
- Perform water tests on pools and spas at specified times. Report any problems to the supervisor or building manager immediately.
Additional Responsibilities- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all policies and standards.
- Refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation for specific duties and responsibilities.
- Abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct, and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
Education- High School Equivalent / GED (Preferred)
Work Experience- Previous lifeguard experience (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities- Working knowledge of pool filtration systems (Preferred proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications- Current lifeguard training certificate (including First Aid, AED, CPR for Professional Rescuer) from American Red Cross or equivalent nationally recognized organization (Required)
- Water Safety Instructor certification (Preferred)
