Job Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, this position has primary responsibility for supporting the lifeguard team by recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising.

Qualifications
  • Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR, AED, Emergency Oxygen certifications
  • 3-5 years Aquatics experience
Essential Functions
  • Supervise and lead others effectively
  • Maintain and account for all equipment in program areas, ensuring proper use of YMCA equipment and facilities
  • Take corrective action regarding pool contaminations and report to the Aquatics Director and/or Executive Director
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and schedule lifeguards at the branch
  • Provide a safe swim environment for all members and keep all certifications up to date
  • Provide lifeguard coverage at the branch when needed
  • Ensure all patrons are safe in the pool
  • Develop and maintain relationships with YMCA members
  • Responsible for all pool safety procedures and safety drills
  • Assist with special events and activities as necessary
  • Follow all lifeguard protocols as determined by the YMCA and supervisor
  • Perform other duties as assigned
