Job description

Join to apply for the Lifeguard (Chelsea) role at Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston.

Along with the Aquatics Director/Head Lifeguard, assist in maintaining a safe environment, in accordance with all safety standards. Enforce all pool rules and be familiar with all emergency procedures.

Assist in implementing developmentally appropriate activities, including swim lessons for various age groups.

Supervise and discipline campers participating in programs and services within the program area and throughout the clubhouse as deemed appropriate.

Participate in collaborative programs, events, and field trips with staff from other clubhouse groups, BGCB staff, and community organizations as appropriate.

Participate in evaluation efforts, including the annual member survey, to assess our impact.

Secure and maintain materials, equipment, and resources belonging to the program area. Maintain a safe and clean environment.

Travel between sites and to activities as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Aquatics Director.

Position Requirements
  • Must be 18+ years old.
  • Current American Red Cross CPR, First Aid, and Advanced Lifesaving certification required.
  • Experience as a lifeguard preferred; experience with children/youth required.
  • Knowledge of youth development principles.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
