Part-Time, Seasonal (June - August 2025)

Position Description
Art Omi is seeking a certified Lifeguard age 16+ to monitor daily swimming activities at Camp Omi at its swimming pool facility on site in Ghent, NY. The Lifeguard will assist the Supervising Lifeguard who oversees camp swimming and all pool operations.

Qualifications:
Must possess valid Lifeguarding Certification and CPR/AED Certification (by June 30, 2025)

Applicants MUST meet all New York State Health Department standards as outlined on the Fact Sheet entitled “Aquatic Certification for NYS Bathing Facilities”:

- Must be at least 16
- Must have a current lifeguard certification
- Must have separate cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification in an approved course listed on the NYS CPR fact sheet

Candidates will also demonstrate a commitment to Art Omi’s mission, to working to advance its position within the field, and an ability to advocate effectively for the organization and its goals in professional and social settings.

Schedule and Compensation
- Dates: Monday - Friday, June 30 - August 8 (no camp on July 4th); hours: 11:30AM - 1:30PM
- Requires commitment to full camp season
- $55 per day

Work Environment
What follows is a general description of expectations for the work environment. We are open to making modifications to support people of all abilities whenever feasible.

All swimming activities occur outdoors at Art Omi’s inground pool. The pool is 40 feet in length with a depth of three feet in the shallow end and five feet in the deep end. Camp programs run rain or shine during the summer months and, as such, the weather may be hot, humid, wet, and/or cold. This is a highly dynamic, fast-paced environment that can be physically demanding.
