Lifeguard/Aquatic Instructor - Ridley Area YMCA

Join the Community YMCA as a Lifeguard/Aquatic Instructor in the Ridley Area. This part-time position offers a pay range of $12.00/hr - $16.00/hr.

Position Summary

Maintain safe swimming conditions, provide leadership and instruction in swimming classes, and promote a positive, safe environment in accordance with YMCA policies.

Essential Functions
  • Monitor the pool area actively, perform lifeguard duties, and respond to emergencies in line with YMCA procedures.
  • Instruct swimming lessons following YMCA guidelines with prepared lesson plans.
  • Review emergency procedures regularly and complete necessary reports.
  • Build positive relationships with members and enforce pool rules.
  • Provide information on aquatic programs and refer members to other services as appropriate.
  • Maintain records such as attendance and progress reports.
  • Manage equipment, report damages, and ensure safety and cleanliness of the aquatic area.
  • Conduct safety checks, water testing, and document water conditions.
  • Complete incident reports as needed and attend staff trainings and meetings.
Qualifications
  • Minimum age of 15.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Current YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard certification.
  • Ability to demonstrate and maintain physical and mental readiness.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to hear distress signals and remain alert at all times.
  • Meet physical strength and lifting requirements.
  • Maintain visual observation of all pool areas.
