Job description

Merryhill School (#1037), located at 9036 Calvine Rd, Sacramento, California, is seeking qualified Lifeguards to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment during Summer Camp. The position runs from March 19th to October 29th, with specific schedules from March 24th to June 5th (2:00 - 6:00 pm or 3:00 - 6:00 pm) and varying 8-hour days starting June 11th (9:00 am - 6:00 pm preferred).

Job Duties:

1. Remain stationed at designated ends or sides of the pool at all times.
2. Follow the 5-5-5 rule: stand for 5 minutes, sit for 5 minutes, walk for 5 minutes.
3. Stay within 1 foot of the pool edge; do not sit, stand, or walk further away.
4. Maintain visual supervision of all children in the pool area.
5. Lock the pool area when no lifeguard is present.
6. Supervise children during scheduled swim lessons and ensure safety protocols are followed.
7. Ensure children are scheduled for lessons and are brought to and from the pool.
8. Begin lessons punctually and ensure they are safe, effective, and enjoyable.
9. Arrive on time to meet campers and camp counselors.
10. Ensure children are picked up by their counselors and are not left alone.
11. Perform daily pool chemical checks and record inspections.
12. Inspect and clear debris from filter traps and pool bottom.
13. Maintain cleanliness of the pool area and remove any leftover items.

Essential Skills & Experience:

1. At least one year of Lifeguard experience.
2. Current Lifeguard certification, CPR certification required.
3. Must be at least 18 years old.
4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with staff, parents, and children.
5. Proficiency in using technology for communication.
