Job description

Position: Lifeguard

Duration: Now to October 29th. Schedule from March 24th - June 5th: 2:00 - 6:00 pm or 3:00 - 6:00 pm. From June 11th: 8-hour days, schedule varies, but 9:00 am - 6:00 pm is needed.

Job Duties
  • Remain stationed at opposite ends or sides of the pool at all times.
  • Follow the 5-5-5 rule: stand for 5 minutes, sit for 5 minutes, walk for 5 minutes.
  • Stay within 1 foot of the pool edge; do not sit, stand, or walk farther away.
  • Supervise children within visual sight during pool time.
  • Lock the pool area when no lifeguard is present.
  • Supervise and ensure safety during swim lessons and class times.
  • Ensure children are scheduled for lessons and properly brought to and from the pool.
  • Start lessons on time and ensure they are safe, effective, and enjoyable.
  • Meet campers and counselors promptly upon arrival and ensure children are picked up safely.
  • Check and record pool chemical levels daily.
  • Inspect and clear debris from filter traps and pool bottom.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the pool area and remove leftover items.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • At least 1 year of lifeguard experience.
  • Current Lifeguard certification; CPR certification required.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • CPO certification is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build positive relationships with parents, children, staff, and community.
  • Effective use of technology for communication.
