Job description

Join our team this summer at High Sierra Pools! We are currently looking for lifeguards, pool managers, and area lifeguards to join our Herndon area team. Our rates for certified lifeguards are among the highest in the industry!

If you have good swimming skills and are looking for a fun summer job where you can make a difference in your community, this is the job for you. Flexible summer/seasonal schedules are available, including full-time, part-time, and weekend-only work.

Lifeguard Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Opening and closing the pool each day according to scheduled hours
  2. Regularly treating the pool with the correct amount of chemicals
  3. Monitoring activities in the pool area and identifying safety issues
  4. Directing swimmers out of the water in dangerous conditions
  5. Monitoring weather reports to ensure guest safety
  6. Organizing and overseeing pool parties
  7. Providing swim lessons and coaching swim teams when applicable
  8. Maintaining a clean pool environment
Lifeguard Skills and Qualifications
  • Valid Lifeguarding/First Aid, CPR-AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens certificates
  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Two or more years of lifeguard experience
  • Current ARC certification
  • Lifeguarding or Shallow Water lifeguarding certification class
  • Positive attitude: ready to help others and solve challenges
  • Dependable and reliable
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment in-water practical skills test
  • Experience coaching swim teams and teaching swimming lessons
  • Ability to pass background check and drug testing if required
