Lifeguard
Job Summary
The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety and well‑being of all water park guests by maintaining constant surveillance of assigned areas, enforcing park rules, and responding quickly and effectively to emergencies. Lifeguards are expected to provide exceptional guest service while working as part of a team to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the water park.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintain active surveillance of assigned aquatic areas and rotate positions as scheduled to ensure full coverage and alertness.
- Enforce all water park rules and ride regulations to promote guest safety.
- Respond immediately and appropriately to all emergency situations in accordance with the Emergency Action Plan (EAP).
- Provide first aid care for minor injuries such as insect stings, small cuts, bruises, and nosebleeds.
- Follow and correctly enforce inclement weather policies.
- Communicate unresolved guest concerns or incidents to Head Lifeguards or management promptly.
- Assist with daily opening procedures, which may include:
- Inspecting the park for debris or left‑behind items
- Cleaning and preparing cabanas
- Vacuuming pools and the lazy river
- Inflating tubes and organizing life jackets
- Setting up umbrellas and arranging lounge furniture
- Preparing lifeguard stations and coolers
- Assist with daily closing procedures, including:
- Stacking tubes and securing equipment
- Cleaning assigned areas
- Resetting furniture and umbrellas
- Ensuring all areas are organized and free of debris
- Maintain a professional appearance, positive attitude, and strong attention to detail.
- Attend and actively participate in required in‑service training sessions.
- Help foster a safe, respectful, and team‑oriented work environment.
Education & Experience
- Currently attending high school or possess a high school diploma/GED.
- Must hold a valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED Certification.
- Certification must remain current throughout employment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of lifeguarding techniques, water rescue methods, and first aid practices.
- Ability to remain alert and attentive for extended periods.
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
