Job summary

World Spa is seeking a Head Lifeguard/CPO for our aquatics area in Brooklyn, NY. The role involves monitoring swimmers, enforcing pool rules, performing rescues, and administering first aid as needed.

The position requires lifeguard certification (American Red Cross) and CPR/AED, with 1+ year of lifeguard experience. You will maintain pool safety, assist with saunas and jacuzzis, and help create a safe, engaging member environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year experience as lifeguard or in water safety roles.
• Must be a capable and proficient swimmer with ability to assist in water rescue.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist in safety equipment handling.
• Lifeguard Certification (American Red Cross) required.
• Water Safety Instructor Certification (American Red Cross) preferred.
• CPR/AED Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Open and close the pool daily according to scheduled hours.
• Treat pool and water facilities with the correct amount of chemicals.
• Maintain a clean and safe pool environment, addressing slip risks.
• Open, close, maintenance and support of saunas, steam rooms, and jacuzzis as directed by management.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
• Aid the Facilities Managers in maintaining proper pool operation.
• Identify and communicate repair, replacement or upkeep needs including safety equipment.
• Create a fun and socially rewarding environment for members and their guests.
• Enforce pool policies, rules, and regulations professionally.
• Speak with swimmers to enforce swimming rules.
• Proactively seek ways to improve member experience and address feedback.
• Prioritize safety and reduce risk in pool area.
• Closely monitor activities related to pool area and safety issues.
• Organize and oversee pool parties.
• Keep track of each swimmer in the water.
• Act immediately in emergencies to provide first aid.
• Provide emergency care and follow-up procedures with equipment.

Position Summary:

Monitors and warns swimmers of improper activities or danger and enforces pool regulations and water safety policies. Administers first aid in the event of injury, rescues swimmers in distress or danger of drowning, and administers CPR and/or artificial respiration, if necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Opening and closing the pool each day according to scheduled hours

• Treat the pool and other water facilities with the correct amount of chemicals

• Maintaining a clean and safe pool environment, addressing any risks such as excessive water on surrounding areas presenting a slip risk.

• Opening, closing, maintenance and support of saunas, steam rooms, and jacuzzis as directed by management.

• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

• Aid the Facilities Managers in any way necessary in order to maintain proper pool operation

• Identify & communicate any repair, replacement or upkeep needs including that of safety equipment.

• Create a fun and socially rewarding environment for members and their guests.

• Enforce pool policies, rules, and regulations in a personable and professional manner.

• speak with swimmers to enforce swimming rules

• Proactively seeking ways to positively impact the member experience and address member feedback

• Passionate about safety and works proactively to find ways to improve safety and reduce risk in pool area.

• Act immediately and appropriately in the event of an emergency to avoid danger and risk to patrons and guests

• Provide emergency care and treatment as required. Perform appropriate follow-up procedures, including the proper use of equipment in the performance of first aid.
