Job summary

The Health and Fitness Center at Washtenaw Community College is seeking a part-time Lifeguard to keep members safe in the pools and surrounding areas. The facility is managed by Power Wellness, a company that specializes in medically integrated health and fitness centers.

You will provide vigilant supervision, perform lifesaving and safety procedures, assist with equipment maintenance, and support EMS as needed. CPR/AED and lifeguard certifications are required, with training provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Current Lifeguard certification from a nationally recognized organization required.
• Minimum 2 years of part time experience as a lifeguard preferred.
• Water Safety Instructor certification is preferred.
• CPR/AED certification required within 90 days of hire (provided by Power Wellness)
• Must possess excellent inter-personal and communication skills, and the ability to work with members in a positive, service based manner.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety in the pool and surrounding areas.
• Provide supervision and perform lifesaving measures when necessary.
• Participate in maintenance of pool, exercise equipment and emergency equipment.
• Be proficient in core business software as it relates to job duties and responsibilities.
• Be flexible with center hours and work schedules.
• Follow all safety requirements and certifications to perform duties.
• Communicate effectively with EMS during emergencies.
• Participate in the Company's HIPAA and related training.

The part time Lifeguard is responsible for providing safety to the members and guests in the pools and surrounding areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Part Time Lifeguard:

• Maintain safety in the pools and surrounding pool areas.
• Provide supervision and take life saving measures when necessary for members and guests in the pool and surrounding areas.
• Participate in maintenance of pool, exercise equipment and emergency equipment.
• Be proficient in all core business software as it relates to job duties and responsibilities.
• Work towards meeting departmental and organizational goals.
• The ability to be flexible and accommodating as it relates to center hours and work schedules.
• Must meet all safety requirements and certifications necessary to perform job duties.
• Demonstrate complete knowledge of emergency and safety procedures and confidence communicating with EMS.
• Participate in Company's HIPAA and related training.
• Other duties as assigned.
