Job summary

Big Blue Swim School in Cottonwood Heights, Utah is hiring lifeguards. No previous lifeguard experience needed; paid training provided. The role includes active surveillance, emergency response, and front desk support as needed.

Candidates must be at least 15, pass the ARC Lifeguarding course, and be able to work 15–25 hours weekly, including weeknights and at least one weekend day. Competitive pay and benefits offered.

• Ability to work in or around the water for 15-25 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Active Surveillance: Continuously scanning assigned water areas to detect hazards or swimmers in distress.
• Emergency Response: Activating the Emergency Action Plan, performing rescues, and providing first aid, CPR, or AED care.
• Rule Enforcement: Monitoring and enforcing pool safety rules to prevent dangerous behavior.
• Preventative Care: Identifying hazards to eliminate risks before they cause injury.
• Communication: Interacting with patrons politely and communicating with team members/supervisors.
• Assist with front desk responsibilities and maintain a clean facility.

• Competitive Pay: Our new employees earn $10.00 - $15.00 per hour depending on experience. We pay an additional sub differential as an incentive to staff who pick up extra shifts.

Lifeguard Requirements:

• Must be at least 15 years old
• Previous swimming experience not required, but must be able to pass an American Red Cross Shallow Lifeguarding Course, including the pre-test.
• Wants to have fun!
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and be on your feet for long periods of time
• Ability to work in or around the water for 15-25 hours per week
• Must be willing to work weeknights and at least one weekend day
• Lifeguard/CPR Certification (this can be obtained during training at Big Blue)

• Preventative Care: Identifying potential hazards (e.g., slippery decks, unsafe behavior) to eliminate risks before they cause injury.
• Communication: Interacting with patrons politely and communicating with team members/supervisors.
• Assist with front desk responsibilities as well as maintain a clean facility
• Attend ongoing training as scheduled
• Represent Big Blue Swim School with a high level of professionalism and conduct in the workplace
• Other duties as assigned
